Liberal senior dual sport athlete Zayden Martinez is the Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week.  Martinez finished off a stellar senior baseball season Tuesday in Topeka.  He will run Friday at a 6A regional track meet at Gary Cornelsen Sports Complex.

In baseball, Martinez hit .391 with a team leading two home runs and 27 RBI’s.  He slugged three doubles and legged out five triples with 21 runs scored.  On the mound, Martinez was 2-2 with a 3.41 ERA to go along with 47 strikeouts and 24 walks.

In track, he was a on a 4×400 relay team which won the WAC last week.  He placed third in the 200 with a time of 22.47.  His PR in the 200 is 22.32.

Martinez was also involved in football, basketball, powerlifting, and FCA.
