An ordinary neighborhood in Guymon was quickly transformed into what appeared to be a crime scene Thursday morning.
Shortly after 11 a.m., Guymon Police Department received a call of a person laying on the ground, unconscious, in the vacant lot located at the corner of 6th and Ellison.
The officer responding to the scene, found an elderly woman on the ground, unresponsive and notified EMS. The officer rendered aid until their arrival.
The woman, identified as Maria Garcia Salamonca, 76 of Guymon, was transported to Memorial Hospital of Texas County, where she was later pronounced dead.
A trail of blood was found, from 6th and Main St. to where the body was found. Responding officers quickly secured the area and began their investigation.
"The scene was taped off by law enforcement and treated as a crime scene until medical staff at Memorial Hospital of Texas County determined her death was the result of natural causes with no sign of foul play," said Guymon Police Chief Eddie Adamson.
