Liberal, Kansas – After anchoring the back line for the Seward County Lady Saints this past season, libero Winiffer Rodriguez is taking her talents to the four-year level, signing her National Letter of Intent to play at Oklahoma Panhandle State next season.
Rodriguez appeared in all 30 matches for the Lady Saints in her only season for the Green and White. During her lone season at Seward County, she recorded the 10th most digs in a single season in program history with 520 that included nine games of 20+ digs. Her career high of 35 digs in a five-set win over Colby to open Jayhawk conference action tied the most digs in a five-set match in program history which she followed up with 26 and 31 in her next two games. Rodriguez also recorded 70 assists and 16 service aces to help the Lady Saints to a 13-17 overall record in the 2023 season.
She will compete at the NAIA level next season as she joins an Aggies program who went 8-17 in the regular season a year ago while going 7-13 in conference play with five of their wins coming in a streak that included 3-0 sweeps over Central Christian, Wayland Baptist, and University of Science and Arts.
“Winiffer was a great addition to us this year. She takes care of business on and off the court and will definitely be missed” said Head Coach Aubrey Wilson. “I can’t wait to see the impact she makes at OPSU on the court, but also in the classroom and around campus. She has a bright future, and I am looking forward to following her success throughout her future endeavors.”
