Teachers are often almost like scientists in a lab. They use data and experiences to see what works with their students and what doesn’t. One 7th grade pre-algebra class at West Middle School is taking a different approach and seeing positive results. During a presentation to the USD 480 school board Monday night, West principal Troy McCarter and math teacher Daniel Minde explained a different approach, the flipped classroom. The instructor puts together a 10-15 minute video of a lesson plan. Students watch the video at home and then do their homework in school. They have seen positive results so far with the plan which began early in the second semester.
