OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says at least

seven people are dead after a head-on collision near the town of

Elmwood in the Oklahoma Panhandle.

OHP Capt. Chris West says a Chevrolet Suburban traveled left of

center along Highway 412 early Wednesday and slammed head-on into a

van. West says early reports indicate both drivers were killed,

along with five others. He says the accident is still being

investigated, but that the Suburban was traveling at a high rate of

speed.

Elmwood is located in Beaver County in the Oklahoma Panhandle,

less than 10 miles from the Texas state line.

Both lanes of Highway 412 were closed at 6:20 a.m. and traffic

was rerouted onto county roads.
