At 4:55 a.m. Thursday, sheriff’s deputies responded to an accident in the 12500 block of West U.S. Highway 50, near the Kearny County/Finney County line.
A 2000 Kenworth semi truck was eastbound on U.S. 50 when its driver, 24-year-old Cesar Rivera of Garden City, lost control on a snow-packed roadway.

The semi and its trailer jack-knifed across the highway, striking a 2005 Chevy Equinox, driven westbound by 26-year-old Girmay Moges of Liberal.

Neither man was injured. The semi sustained more than $1,000 in damage, and the Equinox was destroyed.
