Vernon Takes Two Over Saints Sunday

The Vernon Chaps swept the Seward County Saints Sunday in Vernon to win the series 3-1.  The two teams split on Saturday.  On Sunday, Vernon prevailed 6-1 and 17-9.

In game one, Vernon scored three in the first before adding two in the third and one in the fourth.  The Saints plated one in the second but only mustered four hits.  Vernon had eight hits.  Kaden Juarez doubled in the loss. Armani Ysac pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

In game two, the teams were tied at 4-4 after three.  Vernon blew the game open with five in the fourth and seven in the fifth.  The Chaps out-hit the Saints 12-11.  Seward committed two errors and Vernon had one.  Blaine Clancy was 2-4 with two doubles.  Nathan Hopkins and Colton Rowan had two hits a piece.  Kotaro Wakui drove home two.  Seward pitching walked nine in the loss.

The Saints are 6-8 and host the Otero Rattlers Friday at 1pm at Brent Gould Field.
