Vehicle/Pedestrian Accident Sends One to the Hospital

On December 14th at approximately 4:29 pm, officers of the Liberal Police Department were dispatched to 2nd Street and Kansas Avenue on an injury accident involving a motor vehicle and pedestrian.

During the investigation, officers learned that a 2010 white Chevy Silverado, driven by a 31-year-old male, was turning left onto N. Kansas Ave from 2nd Street when a 70-year-old female was running across the crosswalk and was struck.

The pedestrian sustained head injuries and was transferred to SWMC by EMS. The driver of the white Chevy Silverado was issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.
