On the evening of Sunday, April 9, the Kansas Highway Patrol initiated a vehicle chase that originated westbound near Plains, KS and turned back east on US-54. The Visual of the suspect car, a Gray Nissan Murano with Ohio tags was lost after the vehicle turned north on K-23. Troopers and Meade County Kansas Sheriff’s Deputies continued to search for the vehicle.

The suspect, Tanner Godwin, 18, and the suspect vehicle were apprehended when He tried to turn off onto KK Rd. Godwin turned wide and ran off the road, then went into a ditch and came to rest in a dry containment pond. The suspect was taken to the Meade District Hospital with minor injuries.

Godwin is in custody thanks in part to the quick response of the Meade County Citizens.

The subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
