US 54 To Be Closed East Of 6 Points in Liberal

PThe Kansas Department of Transportation plans to close U.S. 54 east of the Six Points intersection (junction of U.S. 54 and U.S. 83) in Liberal for three to four weeks, beginning Monday, August 1. The contractor, J-A-G Construction Company of Dodge City will be replacing the concrete pavement as part of the intersection reconstruction. U.S. 54 traffic will be detoured onto Fifth Street and Rollie Road. KDOT advises drivers to find alternate routes, if possible.
The Kansas DOT expects this portion of U.S. 54 to be reopened by September. The full project should be completed by October, depending on weather.
