UPS Facility in Dodge City to Close

A major delivery company is closing two of its facilities in Kansas later this year, forcing some of its employees to look for new work or shift where they live.

Karen T. Hill, U.S. media relations manager for UPS, confirmed the company is shuttering two facilities in Dodge City and Lawrence in 2025. These facilities will close on the following dates:

2601 East Wyatt Earp Building in Dodge City – Tuesday, May 20.
331 Northeast Industrial Lane in Lawrence – Tuesday, June 17.

Hill said this is part of an ongoing company-wide evaluation that has been in motion since January this year. UPS released the following statement on March 14 regarding “network optimization.”

“UPS has an unwavering commitment to serving our customers around the world. As we announced in January, we are making exciting changes to optimize our network, improve efficiency and continue to deliver on our customer-first strategy. The changes underway include reassessing a small percentage of our U.S. operations. Our employees and customers remain a top priority for us during this process, and we will continue to provide industry-leading service to customers in every community we serve. We will also continue philanthropic investments through The UPS Foundation to build stronger communities, create a healthier environment and advance opportunities for all.”

Hill did not say how many employees these closures will impact. UPS is encouraging them to find work at other positions within the company at one of its other facilities in Kansas.

“Employees are very important to us and we’re working to place as many of them as possible in other positions,” Hill said.
