UPDATE: A woman is recovering after being stabbed several times while working at a department store in western Kansas.
It happened shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday at a Walmart store located at 3101 E. Kansas Avenue in Garden City.
According to Garden City Police, a man entered Walmart and walked to the electronics department at the back of the store. He then reportedly, without provocation, stabbed a store employee several times before running from the building.
When officers arrived minutes later, they found a 31-year-old woman suffering from several stab wounds to her head and face area. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Police were able to get a description, and a suspect was located around 12:30 p.m. Sunday outside an apartment in the 2600 block of East Fair Street.
Quincy Crough, 31, was arrested and booked into the Finney County Jail for attempted first degree murder and aggravated burglary.
Police say the burglary allegation stems from his previous arrest at that same Walmart store for aggravated robbery in November of last year. He was convicted in that case and ordered to stay out of the business.
The motive for the stabbing is still under investigation, and police say Crough has no known association with the victim. The woman’s current condition is unknown.
