Joe Denoyer - February 16, 2024 11:19 am
The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced an upcoming project regarding a U.S. 83 passing lane that is scheduled to start on Monday February 19, 2024. The project will include:
Bridge guardrail at the Cimarron River Bridge will be replaced,
Centerline and shoulder rumble strips will be installed along the project area,
Permanent stripping from the Cimarron River Bridge south to the Satanta cut-off will be placed along the roadway,
Permanent seeding will take place to conclude the project.
U.S. 83 traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions at the Cimarron River Bridge only as one-lane traffic will be directed by flaggers and a pilot car through the work zone. Signs and cones will mark the lane reduction. The traffic control operation should last until the end of the month. U.S. 83 will be open to unrestricted traffic when construction is not taking place. This project is expected be complete the end of March, weather permitting. Motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes. We advise the traveling public to plan accordingly and allow additional travel time.
