U.S. 56 Resurfacing to Begin in Morton County

Garden City – Resurfacing of U.S. 56 in Morton County from the Kansas/Oklahoma state line to the east 14 miles will begin on Wednesday, July 26, weather permitting.   This will consist of a hot in-place recycle followed by a chip seal.

Traffic will be reduced to one-lane with traffic guided by a pilot car during the project with an expected delay of 15 minutes or less.  KDOT urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching work zones and be prepared to stop.

Dustrol Inc. of Towanda is the primary contractor on the project with an approximate construction cost of $670,000.  The project is expected to be completed by mid-August, weather permitting.
