With rain falling Saturday afternoon, a Turpin man lost his life in a one vehicle crash shortly before 5 pm. Twenty-seven year old Jaime Ortiz of Turpin was pronounced dead at about 6:45 Saturday evening at Southwest Medical Center. His passenger twenty-nine year old Andres Ortiz of Turpin was taken to Southwest Medical Center with injuries. Ortiz was driving a 2002 Chevy pick up south on county road G. He lost control and slid into the west ditch. The pick up rolled and partially ejected Ortiz, which resulted in fatal injuries. The accident was a half mile south of Highway 54 and county road G.
