Tuesday night the 7th Grade Lady Warriors opened their season at home hosting Ulyssess and Hugoton.

First match against Ulyssess it was evident that preseason jitters controlled the set. However, tied at 20 the Warriors were able to gain momentum as newcomer Marely Mendoza finished off the set strong in the front. Warriors tooke set one 25-22 and cruised in the second 25 14 with strong serving by Alexciz Green and Ryleigh Regier.

After a break, the Lady’s concluded play against Hugoton. Miscommunication and lack of team play marred this set as the Warriors were able to keep it close to pull out and take the match. The Warriors took the first set 25-22, dropped the second 22-25 and finished 15-13 in the deciding set.

The Girl’s had a nice start to the season, but still have a lot of work ahead…We gave up too many easy points due to fundamentals, communication and individual play. There is much potential for this group to make their mark this season.

The Lady Warriors consist of Aailyah Morales, Genevieve Zuniga, Idalia Lopez, Natalie Naranjo, Ryleigh Regier, Makenzee Chaloupek, Miley Janko, Alexciz Green, Marely Mendoza and NaZaiah Williams

Kepley L 22-25, W 25-22, L 12-15

Hugoton L 18-25, W 25-14, L 10-15

We worked well as a team communicating and helping each other out. Kamilah
Delgado did a great job working the net with multiple blocks and tips
through the night. Anayeli Marta had 6 serves in a row against Kepley in
the first game giving us a good lead to start out the game. Claudia Pineda
had a strong reach to save a ball that had been shanked, getting the ball
back in and over, earning us a point.
