Trenton Hammond is Mead Lumber Athlete of the Week

Liberal sophomore Trenton Hammond is the Mead Lumber Athlete of the Week. The sophomore won gold medals in the season opening meet at Winfield in the 110 hurdles at 15.28 and the 300 hurdles in 39.71. He combined with a 4×400 relay team to take third.

Hammond won state as a freshman in the 300 hurdles at 39.07.

Hammond also plays football and basketball.

Liberal hosts the 5 State Relays Thursday at the Cornelsen Sports Complex. Garden City, Dodge City, Perryton, Holcomb, Guymon, Southwestern Heights, and Hooker will compete. The field events begin at 1 p.m. with running events starting at 3 p.m.
