A tornado was spotted 21 miles northeast of Hugoton Tuesday afternoon. A caller reported seeing a small tornado north of her with debris clearly rotating in Haskell County at 2:37 p.m. Storm spotters also saw large hail in Southwest Kansas Tuesday. Hail covered the ground and accumulated to a depth of six inches along the side of buildings six miles northeast of Elkhart with the wind gusting at 60 miles per hour at 2:35 p.m. The hail was 1.75 inches in diameter. One inch hail was also reported eight miles south of Rolla, six miles northwest of Hugoton, and four miles north of Ryus. The picture above is taken one mile west of Liberal along Highway 54. It is a dust cloud making its’ way to Liberal.
