Although it has been a quiet severe weather season in Southwest Kansas, Mother Nature proved it’s not over yet. A tornado touched down last night at 8:28 22 miles north of Liberal. The National Weather Service reported that storm chasers and doppler radar indicated a tornado touched down 15 miles northwest of Plains and nine miles south of Sublette. Tornado warnings were posted in northeastern Seward and west central Meade counties last night. The Weather Channel’s Vortex 2 team was in the area last night and gave national viewers live feeds of severe weather in Stevens and Seward Counties. The storm destroyed a hay barn in the area.
