The Key to Cornelsen

Former Liberal head football and track and field coach Gary Cornelsen has the key. The coach always seemed to know the key to winning track meets and football games. His boys track teams won 14 state championships while his girls teams won 10. His football teams won four state championships during a 12 year stint which saw the Texhoma native go 118-17 from 1991-2001 and 2003. Mayor Tim Long read a proclamation before giving Cornelsen the key to the city at a pep rally Friday afternoon at Redskin Field.
