Texhoma Tries to Stay On Top in A-1
KSCB News - August 22, 2013 1:35 pm
Texhoma third year head coach Aaron Witten says he knows it won’t be easy. Staying on top of Class A District 1 will require a Texhoma team which lost seven seniors to re-load and beat programs which Witten says are almost all better than last year.
Texhoma has a leg up in that direction with five starters back on offense and five back on defense. There are 26 Red Devils out for football.
Key Texhoma players include: Sr. RB/S Tyler Ferguson, Sr. OL/LB Colter Reust, Sr. RB/LB Will Gaillard, Sr. RB/LB Ramy Anderson, Sr. OL/DL Josh Meyer, Sr. WR/CB Taylor Folsom, and Sr. RB/QB/LB Nathan Knitig. Texhoma also has a quarterback who saw 5A snaps at Guymon as Jacob Test transfers to Texhoma after starting for the Tigers.
Texhoma won the district and went to the semis last year before a 35-21 loss to eventual state champ Ringling. They lose the likes of Bryson Beattie (at OBU now) and Jack Powers but look to make another run in Class A.
