Technical Problems Prevent National Anthem at Game

by Rachel Coleman

It is standard practice at Seward County Community College to play a recording of the United States National Anthem before each athletic competition. However, at the Nov. 5 Lady Saints basketball game, technical problems prevented staff from playing the national anthem.
“We apologize to anyone in attendance who was offended by this omission,” said SCCC President Brad Bennett. “With new equipment in the Green House, and this being our home opener, we ran into some unexpected issues.” The college did not intentionally skip the anthem.
“Especially in light of the game falling on Election Day and Veteran’s Day just around the corner, we felt it was important to clarify what happened,” said Bennett.
The college’s IT staff are troubleshooting the systems, and everything should play as expected the next time the Saints welcome fans to the Green House.
