Tea Party Gathers In Oklahoma

More than 1,000 people took to the lawn

outside the state Capitol for a tea party rally as speakers lashed

out at a federal government they say is trampling on the individual

liberties of citizens.

Waving flags that read “Don’t Tread on Me” and holding signs

criticizing federal spending, the group packed the north lawn

Wednesday night.

Between speakers, organizers offered prayers and played

patriotic music.

Conservative Oklahoma City radio host Mark Shannon urged the

group to harness their energy into making a difference in

November’s elections.

More tea party rallies are scheduled for Thursday in Oklahoma

City and Tulsa.
