The Department of Public Safety has released more information, including the identities of the victims, of a fiery head-on crash that killed four people on Wednesday evening.
The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on US Highway 60, about six miles west of Panhandle.
A 2021 Jeep Compass, driven by David Calvert, Jr., 81, of Amarillo, was traveling east in the inside westbound lane of US 60, while Daylee Overton, 20, of Panhandle, was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion westbound in the inside westbound lane.
The SUV was on the wrong side of the road, so the two vehicles collided head-on and caught fire, according to the DPS preliminary report.
Calvert was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Overton, as well as passengers, Christopher Overton, 17, of Panhandle, and Emma Carroll, 19, of Sublette, Kansas, were all pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation.
