A 61-year-old Sublette man was injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident about 13 miles south of Garden City on U.S. Highway 83.
Laurence Scott Meairs was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup north on U.S. 83 at about 2:16 p.m., when he went left of center and struck a 2006 Peterbilt semitrailer driven by Marlon R. Canales-Zaldivar, 35, Houston, who was southbound on U.S. 83.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Canales-Zaldivar tried to avoid Meairs but was unable to.
Meairs was taken to St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City with possible injuries. He was not wearing his seat belt, according to the KHP.
Canales-Zaldivar, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured.
