About 250 students took time out Thursday morning not to serve, but to learn how they can better serve. Southwestern Heights High School was selected as a host school for the KAY Conference. KAY stands for Kansas Association of Youth. The program is spearheaded by KSHSAA. Students from Southwestern Heights, Holcomb, Meade, South Gray, Satanta, and Ingalls attended the conference.

KAY Unit Conferences are designed to focus on club leadership on the local level. The half-day conference gives students the opportunity to share project and program ideas, to develop leadership skills and to "put the spotlight" on youth in the community where the conference is held.

KSCB’s Brock Kappelmann was a guest speaker for the event.
