GARDEN CITY, Kan. (AP) – The shooting death of a star high

school athlete in southwest Kansas is being investigated as a

homicide.

Finney County authorities tell The Garden City Telegram that

18-year-old Braxston Medina was shot about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at a

home in a rural subdivision east of the city. He was pronounced

dead at a hospital a short time later.

Medina was a Garden City resident and standout wrestler at

Garden City High School, where he recently began his senior year.

The newspaper reports he finished fourth last year at the Class 61

state tournament at 135 pounds.

Sheriff’s investigators were at the scene of the shooting

Tuesday afternoon. No arrests had been made.
