Slow Start Sinks Seward at Kilgore

The Seward Lady Saints dropped a road game in Kilgore, Texas Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Rangers built a 35-20 lead at halftime and won 76-65 over the Seward Lady Saints. Kilgore led 42-23 in the second half for the biggest deficit in the game.  Seward out scored Kilgore 45-41 in the second half but couldn’t get over the hump.  Seward had a sluggish return to the court on offense shooting just 31 percent from the field.  Seward was 12-35 from three point range and 15-27 for 56 percent at the foul line.  Kilgore punished SCCC on the boards 57-25.  The Lady Rangers shot 36 percent, went 3-8 from three point range, and 31-41 from the foul line.  Kilgore won despite 25 turnovers and SCCC had 17 turnovers.  Halima Salat led the Lady Saints with 16 points.  De’Shawnti Thomas registered 15 points and eight rebounds.  D’Arrah Allen scored 11 and Ariana Escalante scored 11 a piece.  Seward falls to 8-6 and Kilgore is 6-7.  Seward plays at the 7-4 Tyler Apaches Sunday at 2pm.
