One game after scoring 21 points, Adrian Moreno-Gonzalez had to sit most of Saturday’s game against Garden Plain due to foul trouble. Leading scorer and rebounder James Fieser fouled out. Without these two stalwarts in the lineup, the Liberal Redskins dropped their last game of the Adolph Rupp Invitational in Halstead to the Garden Plain Owls 58-41 Saturday afternoon on Adolph Rupp Court in Halstead.
The Owls jumped on the Redskins early taking leads of 14-4, 16-6, and 18-8 after one. LHS cut the lead to nine at 23-14 with 3:50 to play in the half. But the Owls led 30-17 at the half. After falling behind 38-21, the Redskins mounted a 12-0 run to pull within 38-33 after a pair of Juan Diego 3’s and a James Fieser “and 1.” That was the score after three. Garden Plain ran away in the fourth quarter as LHS succumbed to foul trouble. Garden Plain out paced LHS in the fourth quarter 20-8.
James Fieser was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 15. Eathan Hernandez and Juan Diego scored 12 a piece. But the rest of the team scored a combined two points.
Garden Plain is 5-6 and Liberal is 3-10. The Redskins host Woodward for homecoming Friday night at about 7:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
