Skins Drop the Hammer Late on Eisenhower

The Liberal soccer team waited until the second half to put the game away. LHS won their opening game of the 5A soccer playoffs 5-0 over visiting Goddard Eisenhower on a still Tuesday evening at Cornelsen. Liberal missed multiple first half opportunities to score against an overmatched Tiger team and LHS led just 1-0 after one half. Henry Vela scored his first goal at the 13:24 mark of the first half with an assist from Samuel Cruz. Vela wasted little time to find the back of the net in the second half scoring at the 36:19 makr and the 23:49 mark thanks to an assist from Jason Rios. Cruz scored at the 20:40 mark and the 12:21 mark. The Redskins are 11-6 and have won six of their last seven. Eisenhower finishes 6-10-1. LHS faces 13-4 Kapaun in Wichita at 6:30 in the Stryker Complex. The Crusaders topped Wichita Heights 1-0.
