The Redskin basketball team continues to struggle with consistency late in the season. Liberal fell way behind early, out played Great Bend for about 10 minutes, then struggled late in a 70-51 loss to the Great Bend Panthers Tuesday night in Great Bend.
The Panthers were on the prowl early taking leads of 20-5 after one and 23- and 29-7 in the second quarter. LHS trailed 37-18 at the half. The Redskins out scored the Panthers 22-15 in the third quarter to make it 52-40 GBHS after three. But Great Bend owned the 4th quarter 18- 11.
Liberal was 3-13 from three and 6-13 at the foul line.
James Fieser was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 16 points. Brooks Kappelmann and Zayden Martinez had nine points a piece. Martinez grabbed 10 rebounds and Brooks Kappelmann had 10 boards.
Great Bend wins their sixth straight over LHS and improves to 13-5 overall and 4-2 in the WAC. Liberal falls to 5-13 overall and 0-6 in the WAC. Liberal hosts Garden City Tuesday night at about 7:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
