Lori Navarro wasn’t pleased. Her team didn’t run the set plays they had worked on in practice and struggled finding the back of the net against a very imposing McPherson goalie. But the Bullpups (10-7-1) didn’t have many scoring opportunities and Liberal held on for a 1-0 win at Redskin Field Thursday night for another regional championship. Head coach Lori Navarro expects more from her team.

“We didn’t do a lot of things we should have done as far as finishing,” Navarro said. “We didn’t set up our set plays today and that’s disappointing when you practice really hard for those particular moments. I think most of our sets today were pretty sloppy. I think the one set where we scored, that’s the way most of them should have looked.”

Isai Gutierrez found Jose Flores for Liberal’s one tally into the south goal with at the 17:16 mark of the first half. Liberal is 14-1-3 and will host a playoff game Tuesday night at 6:30 against Bishop Carroll.
