On June 12th, 2015 at approximately 11:39 a.m. members of the Liberal Police Department, Liberal Fire Department and Seward County Emergency Medical Services responded to the 1100 block of North Western for a single vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival it was discovered that a 36 year old female driving a red 2003Chevy Blazer was traveling northbound on Western left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The female driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated before being transported to Southwest Medical Center in critical condition. She was later life watched to Wichita. Residents in the area had a brief loss of power as a result of the accident. Line crews from Southern Pioneer responded and made repairs to the utility pole and restored power.
