Shooting Woes Spoil Homecoming with Hutch

Seward brought their defense but not enough offense during their homecoming game Saturday.  The Seward Lady Saints shot under 26 percent from the field in a 58-50 loss to #11 Hutchinson Saturday afternoon in the Green House.  Seward forced 22 Hutch turnovers in the loss.

HCC jumped all over Seward early taking a 14-1 lead.  Seward rallied to trim the lead to 14-9 after one.  Seward tied the game at 16-16 in the second quarter.  Hutchinson buried a three right before halftime to lead 26-20 at the half.  Hutch built a 35-24 lead in the third before an 11-0 run by SCCC.  The Lady Saints out scored Hutch 15-9 in the third quarter as the game was tied at 35-35 after three.  Seward fell behind 43-37 in the fourth.  The Lady Saints rallied to tie the score at 47-47.  The Lady Dragons controlled the rest of the game to win it.

Seward was 14-54 from the field going 4-13 from three and 18-25 from the foul line.  Hutch was 17-49 from the field for 35 percent making 4-17 three pointers and 20-22 at the foul line.  Hutch had 22 turnovers and Seward had 13.  Hutchinson dominated Seward on the glass 45-33.

Ari Gordon was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 18 points, six rebounds, and six steals.

Hutchinson beats Seward for a seventh straight time and third straight time in the Green House.  The Lady Dragons are 26-3 overall and 20-3 in the Jayhawk.  Seward loses their second straight and is 19-10 overall and 14-9 in the Jayhawk.  Seward hosts Garden City Wednesday night at 6pm with Saints Shoot-around at 5:45 on 107.5.  Sharp-McQueen PA is the buyout sponsor.
