Seward’s Hopkins is KJCCC player of the Week

Liberal, Kansas – Nathan Hopkins was a high-level hitter at the plate for the Saints this past weekend in a four-game series sweep over the Vernon Chaps where the freshman hitter led Seward County to victory and earned himself this weeks KJCCC West Player of the Week Honors.
Hopkins was an offensive weapon for the Saints in their four-game series sweep over Vernon where he appeared at bat 17 times and recorded 9 hits for a batting average of .529 over the four-game stretch. Throughout the series sweep over the Chaps, Hopkins recorded 10 runs, 6 RBIs, 4 2Bs, 2 HR, and 15 POs for Seward County with some of his biggest hits coming in the clutch for SCCC. His two home runs in game four of the series to bring the Saints back from a four-run deficit to eventually lock the score back up while a line drive single out to right field drove in the game winning run for Seward County to complete the series sweep.
So far in his first season as a Saint, Hopkins has scored 18 runs while also recording 12 RBIs, 7 2Bs, and 3 HR with two of those helping him earn his first player of the week honors.
Seward County now sits at two games over the .500 mark with a 9-7 overall record in 2024 after winning all four games against Vernon this past weekend. They will now move their attention to their towards this upcoming Friday and Saturday as the Saints face off with the T-Birds of New Mexico with game one beginning at 11:00 Mountain Time on Friday.
