With the south wind howling Wednesday afternoon, the Seward softball team took their field and swept Clarendon 9-1 and 7-5. Seward is 28-7 after and sweep and Clarendon is 7-24.

In game one, Seward scored three in the first, three in the second, and three in the fifth to end the game early with an eight after five run rule. Becky Allen was 3-3 with a homer and three RBI’s. Joe-Ann Rapoza had two hits and two RBI’s. Brittany Hopkins pitched allowing just three hits and Seward did not have an error.

In game two, Seward had to rally to win. Clarendon built a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth before Seward scored two in the bottom of the inning and added a four run fifth and put up a run in the sixth for insurance. Tiffanie Bolanos and Marissa Chavez had two hits a piece and Chavez drove home two runs. Seward committed six errors in the win.

Seward hosts Dodge City Saturday at 2 at Lady Saints Field.
