Seward’s Brooks Barber is KJCCC West Player of the Week

COLBY, Kan. – Three multi-hit games for Seward County freshman Brooks Barber along with a complete-game shutout for Colby Community College sophomore Matthew Mackenzie have earned the duo Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division Baseball Player of the Week honors for their performances during week eight of the 2025 season.

Barber was a bright spot for the Saints last week as the freshman had seven hits in 13 at-bats and had four extra-base hits for Seward County while driving in eight RBI during a four-game series with Hutchinson Community College. Helping SCCC to a 16-6 win in game two of the series, Barber went three-for-four with a double, a home run, and five RBI in the game. For the week, Barber had three multi-hit games and scored six times while also drawing two walks.

Matthew Mackenzie – Colby (KJCCC Baseball West Division Pitcher of the Week)
Mackenzie tossed a complete-game shutout for Colby in the series opener against Pratt as the Trojans picked up a 6-0 win to kick off the series that ended in a four-game sweep for CCC. The redshirt sophomore allowed just four hits and struck out eight in the game, picking up his first pitching victory of the year in the process.
