Seward County fell prey to the Metropolitan Wolves on the road in Lee’s Summit, Missouri where the Lady Saints fell behind by three goals in the first half and despite Meredith Rosas sinking in a late second half goal to get SCCC on the scoreboard, the Lady Saints fell 3-1 to end the weekend.
The first half woes started early for Seward County as Metro found a path to the goal in the first five minutes of action to launch in their first score of the afternoon for a swift 1-0 lead. SCCC’s deficit grew from their as the Lady Saints gave up a second goal off a corner kick play with 28:00 minutes left in the half and eight minutes later fouled an MCC player in the box to give up goal three on a penalty kick to enter halftime trailing the Wolves 3-0.
Seward County put their efforts towards putting points on the board for the Lady Saints but struggled to gain momentum up field. After waiting patiently, a path opened for SCCC to make their way into Metro territory to get multiple shot attempts off with none finding a connection in the back of the net. After putting their foot on the gas to push down field and put themselves in a perfect situation to score, Seward County put together a pair of touches with Giuliani Granada finding an open Rosas in the center of the box who sailed in a goal for the Lady Saints to finally get on the board before the final buzzer, falling to the Wolves 3-1.
Seward County now falls to 2-7-3 on the 2024 campaign with a Jayhawk conference record of 1-6-2. The Lady Saints will finish off their six-game road stint in Hutchinson on Wednesday with SCCC facing off against the Blue Dragons in a 6:00 PM kickoff.
