Seward Sweeps Northeastern in Floydada

Due to the cold and windy weather in Liberal, Seward moved their series with Northeastern (Colorado) to Floydada, Texas.  And it’s a good thing they did.  Seward swept NJC 9-1 and 5-4 on Friday afternoon.

In game one, SCCC led 3-1 until scoring six in the sixth to blow the game wide open.  Kynleigh Kirby pitched six strong innings for the win allowing three hits.  Kirby struck out three and did not issue a walk.  Seward out-hit Northeastern 12-3.  Danica Kowalik , Kynleigh Kirby , and Jolee Limon all slammed home runs for Seward.  Hailey Michalik was 2-2.

In game two, the Saints scored three in the first and led 5-2 after four before holding on for a 5-4 win over the Plainsmen.  NJC out hit Seward 9-7.  Autumn Baker-Foort pitched 5 and 2/3 strong innings allowing one earned run with five strikeouts and two walks.  Danica Kowalik was 2-3 in the win.

Seward is 2-4 and plays Northeastern at 1pm Saturday in Floydada.
