The Seward softball team fought off a sluggish start to sweep Colby 6-5 and 16-0 Tuesday afternoon at Lady Saints Field.

In game one, Seward scored two in the first but allowed three Colby runs in the third. Seward tied it in the third and took a 5-3 lead with two in the fourth. SC added a run in the sixth after the Lady Trojans plated runs in the fifth and seventh. Andrea Sitter hit a home run and was 2-2 while teammates Becky Allen and Pokey Ewell added two hits a piece.

In game two, Seward made quick work of Colby scoring five in the first, six in the second, and five in the third. Marissa Chavez was 2-3 with four RBI’s, Vanessa Oakden was 3-3 with three RBI’s, and Pokey Ewell was 2-4 with three RBI’s.

Seward is 26-7 and 6-2 in the Jayhawk West while Colby falls to 4-21 and 1-5. Ninth ranked Seward hosts Clarendon Wednesday at 2.
