The Seward softball team may have lost an opportunity to catch Garden City in the softball standings. Seward split a pair of games in Garden City Wednesday winning 7-3 but losing 4-3. Garden City is 10-2 in the Jayhawk West while the Saints are 9-5. The teams split the season series.

In game one, Sydney Cicchetti improved to 22-3. Leah Sitter and Kelsea Blackstock both had two hits a piece in the win. Seward withstood a Broncbuster rally when they scored three in the seventh.

In game two, it was Seward who rallied but fell short. Michelle Duford hit a two run homer in the seventh in the 4-3 loss. Duford was 3-4.

Seward is 35-11 and 9-5 in the Jayhawk West while Garden is 40-15 overall and 10-2 in the Jayhawk West. Butler leads the race at 34-8 overall and 9-1 in the conference. Garden and Butler haven’t played each other yet. Seward plays their final home game Wednesday against Dodge City.
