KSCB News - March 29, 2011 11:13 am

Seward County Lady Saints sophomores Jill Rodgers and
Sydney Cicchetti were at the forefront of a 6-1 week for Seward County
at the plate and in the circle and have been rewarded with Jayhawk West
Conference Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards for it.
Rodgers had a monster week at the plate for the Lady Saints, hitting
.478 in 23 at bats while whacking 6 doubles to help an .870 slugging
percentage on the week. Rodgers drove in 15 runs in the 7 games
including a career high 6 on Tuesday against Barton. She finished
Tuesday’s double header with the Cougars 6 for 7 with 9 RBI’s in
Seward’s sweep. On Sunday against #18 Western Nebraska the Lady Saints
1st baseman was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s in a 6-0 Seward win.
Cicchetti proved to be nearly untouchable this week in the circle for
the Lady Saints, earning her 5th KJCCC Pitcher of the Week award of the
season. She fanned 41 batters in just 26 innings while going 3-1 with a
1.35 ERA in four starts. Tuesday against Barton she struck out 11 in a
two hit shutout and topped that Sunday by pitching into the 7th inning
with a no-hitter against #18 Western Nebraska before finishing the game
with a one hit shutout including a career high 14 strikeouts against the
Cougars. (Roy Allen)
