Seward Softball Scores 27 Runs in Game at Goodland

After losing seven of their last eight games, the Seward softball team broke out Thursday in Goodland.  Seward swept Fort Hays Tech 27-0 and 17-8 Thursday afternoon in Goodland.

In game one, the Saints scored eight in the first, six in the second, and 13 in the fourth.  Seward had 22 hits and the Tigers had three.  Clarissa Delafuente and Jolee Limon had four hits a piece.  Danica Kowalik and Corlyn McGaha had three hits a piece. Danica Kowalik, Alyssa Morgan, and Clarissa Delafuente hit home runs.  Kynleigh Kirby pitched two shutout innings and Lynnette Hernandez went three innings.

Game two was a bit more competitive as Seward County plated two in the first and four in the second.  Fort Hays Tech had a four run second.  The Saints scored one in the third, one in the fourth, and three in the fifth to lead 11-4.  The Tigers plated three in the bottom of the 5th to make it 11-7.  Seward put up two in the sixth and four in the seventh to extend their lead.  Fort Hays Tech out-hit Seward 19-17.  The Tigers committed three errors and SCCC had one.  Jahlissa Klear was 5-5 with a home run, three RBI’s and three runs.  Alyssa Morgan, Emily Lane, and Taryn Golden hit home runs.

Fort Hays Tech is 0-32 and 0-22 in the Jayhawk.  Seward is 13-23 overall and 7-15 in the Jayhawk.  Seward hosts first place 28-6 Hutchinson Sunday at 1pm at French Family Field.
