Seward has been winning softball games here recently, but against the bottom of the conference.  But on Monday at French Family Field, Seward beat a Dodge City team which came to town with a winning record.  Seward dominated winning 4-1 and 13-1.  SCCC has now won seven of their last eight Jayhawk Conference games.

In game one, the Saints scored two in the first and that was enough.  SCCC added two in the fifth.  DCCC scored in the seventh.  Aaliyah Gutierrez pitched seven strong innings for the win.  The Guymon product struck out eight and walked two while allowing four hits.  Ashanti Thompson, Samantha Gomez, and Sanaa Keeswood had two hits a piece.  Marisela Landa hit a two run home run.

Seward run ruled Dodge City in five innings in game two.  Seward scored one in the first, eight in the second, and four in the third. Marisela Landa hit a grand slam and was 2-3 with five RBI’s.  She has eight home runs this season.  Avery Ragsdale, Sanaa Keeswood, Ashanti Thompson, and Hannah Dodd had two hits a piece.  Corina McClure pitched five strong innings striking out six and allowing four hits.

Dodge City falls to 12-10 and 7-5 in the Jayhawk.  Seward improves to 12-16 overall and 7-5 in the Jayhawk.  Seward hosts Hutchinson Wednesday at 1pm at French Family Field.
