Liberal, Kansas – After nearly two weeks off the Seward County Lady Saints softball team finally returned to action on their home field when they faced the winless Clarendon Bulldogs and got off to a hot start as they quickly routed their opponent with run rule wins in five innings for both contests to get things back on track before resuming conference play.

Raeana Ortiz started the game strong with a hard hit out to left field for a single that drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Saints to lead to a 3-0 start after the first inning. Another pair of runs in the second made it a five-score lead while a triple from Noemi Tudon and a double by Alyssa Morgan put the score into run rule territory with a 10-0 lead after just three innings. A solo run in the top of the fourth finally put Clarendon on the board but another five-run inning by the Lady Saints made it 15-1 to give Seward County the win in game one in five innings.

Alyna Frazier had a career game in the second matchup of the day and started with a big triple to put the Lady Saints on the board early in the first while another triple from Zoe Lampe kept it growing as SCCC scored seven runs in the first for a 7-0 lead. Morgan slammed out the first home run bomb of the day for Seward County to capitalize on another high scoring inning as the Lady Saints grew their advantage out to 12-0 before Frazier added another homer to make it 14-2 entering the fourth. Four more scores in the bottom of the fourth made it 18-4 for Seward County who completed the run rule sweep on the day over the Bulldogs.

The Lady Saints improve to 16-12 overall on the 2024 season and improve their win streak to three in a row as they resume conference action this Friday when they face the nationally ranked Butler Grizzlies in a doubleheader with game one beginning at 1:00 PM CST.
