Seward finished off their four game series with Pratt Sunday with two more wins on a day when the wind was blowing straight out at almost 40 miles per hour. Seward won 18-14 and 21-2 in seven innings. The Saints move from fifth to third in the Jayhawk West one week after they dropped from first to fifth.

In game one, Seward played very poorly early digging themselves an 11-0 hole before scoring three in the second. Seward committed four errors in the first two innings and starter Pete Macke didn’t make it out of the second. John Solberg singled home a run and Reed Thompson laced a two RBI double. Seward exploded for seven in the third to make it 11-10 Pratt. Brent Williams led off with a double and Jordan Leinweber doubled him home. John Solberg laced a three RBI triple down the first bace line to score three runs. Seward took the lead in the fourth with two runs. Solberg doubled home a run and Hayden Killam singled home a run on his 21st birthday. . Pratt crept closer in the sixth scoring three to make it 16-14. But the Saints countered with two runs as Williams led off with a double and Leinweber homered to right. Grant Glaze came on in relief and pitched four innings allowing just two runs and no walks.

Pratt’s pitching melted down in game two. After PCC and SCCC’s Brent Williams traded solo homers to center, the Beaver pitching staff walked nine in the third. They walked five runs home and walked seven consecutive batters at one stretch. Seward also scored twice on wild pitches. A two RBI double by Williams in the fourth helped Seward extend their lead. Another walk with the bases loaded meant the Saints had scored a sixth run with the bases juiced. Seward added seven more in the fifth. Williams hit yet another RBI double and Connolly smoked a three run homer. Bryson Allen tripled to lead off the seventh and Williams singled him home. Keenan Hall pitched the distance for SC and struck out seven in allowing just two runs.

Williams finished the weekend 11-15 with six doubles while Rix was 8-14 with a homer. Thompson was 8-14. Connolly was 10-16. Leinweber was 8-16.
