LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County Community College has announced the hiring of Anna Voss as the Assistant Softball coach. She spent the past three seasons at Barton Community College where she helped rebuild their program.

In 2017, Voss helped the Cougars to a 30-16 record, landing six players on All-Conference teams and garnering one NFCA All-American. Voss also pushed for excellence in the classroom helping the Cougars to a 3.47 GPA.

In 2016, the Cougars topped the school record book with the most wins in school history at 51. Working primarily with the pitchers and catchers, the staff ranked eighth in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (6.53), ninth in strikeouts (331), tenth best in surrendering walks (68), eleventh in ERA (2.01), and sixteenth in earned runs (102).

Voss coached the Freshman of the Year who was also the Most Valuable Player in the conference along with seven all conference players. The same pitcher who garnered Freshman of the Year and MVP went on to win a Fastpitch News All-American award and NJCAA All-American award. The 2016 team was nationally ranked in the top 10 for the first time in school history and was 4th in the nation in GPA at a 3.63.

Voss’s first season saw many streaks come to an end. The Cougars won the 2015 Region VI title for the first time since 1993. The 2015 team broke a 12 game stretch of losses in Liberal and a 24 game streak of losses against the Saints overall; they also broke a 20 game losing streak to another conference foe, Butler. Voss helped mold a Region VI MVP, NFCA All-American and four all conference players.

Voss holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Fort Hays State University and a master’s degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Emporia State University.
