Protection 4 Paws is a Pennsylvania based charity whose mission is to supply Law Enforcement K9’s with the items needed to protect them, while they protect us. In April 2023 K9 Deputy Bryan Flohr applied for a grant from Protection 4 Paws. The Seward County Sheriff’s Office was approved in June of 2023.
The grant allowed several upgrades to be installed into the K9 patrol vehicle.
A plug-in play system to monitor the air temperature in the patrol vehicle, where K9 Britt is housed on work days, which can be monitored by an app on a smartphone. This will alert Deputy Flohr to the rising temperatures in the patrol vehicle. This piece of equipment was a $900.00 add on to the current system already installed in the patrol vehicle.
A 10” fan that mounts in the window will help circulate the air flow, when the inside of the vehicle gets too hot. This fan will engage and the windows will roll down to allow the upmost air flow to circulate the air thus cooling the inside of the patrol vehicle. This fan system was a $240.00 add on to the current system.
The last piece of equipment added is called No K9 Left Behind, which alerts the handler to make sure the K9 is not left inside the kennel, once the vehicle is shut off. If the K9 kennel is not checked by opening the back door the alarm will sound. This was a $69.00 add on to the current system.
This equipment could not have been added without the generous donation from Protection 4 Paws. This allowed the Seward County Sheriff’s office to obtain over $1,200.00 in needed equipment to be added onto the existing Ace K9 Hot and Pop system in the K9 patrol vehicle. This equipment will be beneficial with our hot Kansas summer days. K9 Britt is appreciative of this generous donation. Special thanks to Isaac Eatmon owner of Tek Style Audio and Security for going above and beyond getting the equipment installed.
