Seward County Firefighter Receives Governors Appointment

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback announced today numerous appointments to boards and commissions.Among the appointments, a long-time Seward County Firefighter receives an appointment to the Kansas Firefighters Memorial Advisory Committee.

  • Christine Standard, Kismet, has worked as a firefighter and a Lieutenant for the Seward County Fire Department for 23 years. She graduated from Hutchinson Community College with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science and Fire Science. Standard served as the First-Vice President of the Kansas State Firefighters Association for ten years.


The Kansas Firefighters Memorial Advisory Committee advises the Director and the Secretary of Administration with regard to matters concerning the memorial to Kansas firefighters on the state capitol grounds. The committee is composed of nine members, seven of which are appointed by the Governor, one is appointed by the state fire marshal and one by the executive director of the Kansas State Historical Society.

“I appreciate the willingness of these Kansans to give of their time, energy, and talent. With their help, we will make our great state even better,” Governor Brownback said.
