Seward County Commission Meets Discusses Several Items

The Seward County Board of County Commission met Monday evening at 5:30 pm and heard updates in several areas of the County. Commissioners heard updates on Tax Sale/Recovery, from Kirkham Michael on Seward County roads, and the Courthouse Security Project. Proposed caliche sites were also discussed, and gave Bobby Wright permission to negotiate with the landowners.
In an added item, the Commission approved the waiver of Landfill fees up to $1,000 to Bobbi Hammock who recently suffered from a home fire.
Approved was Facility Fee Waiver requests for a Cinco de Mayo event and a Diversidad Latina event.
The Commission approved McCully & Associates contract renewals. McCully provides consulting services and assists in analysis and market models required by the Property Valuation Department. Cost to the County is $39,800.00.
Two vehicles were requested to be purchased for Cimarron Basin Community Corrections. One vehicle was approved from Lewis Nissan Altima in the amount of $26,485.95, with Cimarron Basin to see how soon Lewis could get the second vehicle in. Grant funds and an allocation from Grant County will be utilized for this purchase.
A Jail Security Control System replacement was approved at the Sheriff’s recommendation with the Corvinus Group LLC in the amount of $102,102.00, and the Commission approved a Skid Steer purchase for the Road and Bridge. Purchased will be a New Holland C345 at $75,800.00. The Board also approved the $30,000.00 payment to M. Builders for work done at the Activity Center.
On the bleacher project, Commissioners rejected all bids, and will re-let the project to ensure all bids are ADA compliant.
